  1. CLUBS

Other co-curricular programmes in the school are run as clubs structured into two categories; Intellectual and Vocational clubs.

a.  Intellectual Clubs

These are clubs that harness students’ intellectual skills and cultivate in them creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These include Creative writing, Press, Mastermind, Spelling bee, Debate, Public speaking, JETS, Nature and environment, Mathematics and French clubs.

All the co-curricular programmes emanate from the needs and interests of the students. Every student is expected to belong to one intellectual club and one vocational club of their interest. Every club has a constitution and a leadership structure. At the end of every term, all clubs are given the opportunity to showcase their skills and achievements in a public presentation where they compete for the ultimate prize, ‘The Club of the Year Award.’

  1. Robotics and 3-D Technology

At LFG College, we provide project-based ICT skills acquisition programme to all students to enable them fit effectively into a world that is now dominated by artificial intelligence. This programme has been embedded into the main curriculum and taught on a day-to-day basis to all students at all levels. Our main focus is on robotics, animation, coding and graphics. This programme requires all students to own their personal laptops.

These potpourri of academic and co-curricular activities bear eloquent testimonies to the fact that at LFG College, we provide and equip our students with an all-inclusive world class education that produces all-round students.

Our school operates an integrated system of education which encourages our students to be independent and entrepreneurially minded.

Lead-Forte Gate College partners with Junior Achievement Nigeria, a non-governmental organization, to provide the practical skills needed to develop commercial awareness in our students. We expose them to the different opportunities available in a developing economy like Nigeria, and aim to ignite a passion for creativity and enterprise development. At the end of basic entrepreneurship training, students will be trained in various hands-on activities of their choice. We also hope that through this exercise, our students can become future employers of labour, and major stakeholders in the Nigerian Economy.

“Successful leadership is not about being tough or soft, sensitive or assertive, but about a set of attributes. First & foremost is character” (Warren Bennis) At Lead-Forte Gate College, Leadership is our mantra, and we believe that character is an essential tool to becoming a good leader. Character & Leadership training is therefore a key exercise which is undertaken to promote these values in our students. We organize training sessions which are run by both internal and external facilitators. We also ensure that each student is given some form of responsibility in the school to enable them develop their confidence and team-working skills. In addition, our students are carefully guided by our academic and non-academic staff to ensure accountability for positions of responsibility placed in.

Music training is one of our core activities at Lead-Forte Gate College. We ensure that our students are well grounded in both the theoretical and practical aspects of music, and encourage each student to be skilled in at least one musical instrument. Through this exercise, our students are able to discover and develop their musical talents, they also get the chance to showcase these skills during our in-house events like Concerts, African Orchestra, Drum-line, etc, and also at events outside of the school.

Education in no longer for the sole purpose of acquiring certificates without much evidence of knowledge advancement. To this effect, we have infused into our curriculum a new program known as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & craft, Mathematics), a project-based and problem-solving approach to teaching and learning. This is both a fun and interactive way of learning, which has been proven to facilitate creativity, innovation and value creation in young people.

It is therefore an integral part of our curriculum, and a part of our objective at Lead-Forte Gate College to provide an all-inclusive world-class education that develops students’ knowledge, skills and attitudes.

We run the British and Nigerian Curricula in an integrated format such that teachers provide and manage opportunities for students to explore ideas and develop knowledge and skills, through discussion and group activities.

The most basic reason for students joining a club or team is that it gives them something better to do than staring at the wall, wandering the hall, or napping all afternoon.
